Your eyes come to rest, for the first time, on the magnificent Genoese citadel of Porto-Vecchio, overlooking the old town and the sea.
You hop on the shuttle bus or tourist train, which take you directly to the citadel. From there, superb views over the Porto Vecchio gulf and its quaint harbour await you. The day is shaping up to be superb!

Walk down to the old town through a maze of narrow cobbled streets with old-fashioned charm. You’ll discover magnificent historic buildings, such the Saint-Jean Baptiste church, Genoese Gate and Bastion de France fortification.
Arriving at the town hall square, you stumble upon the delightful farmers’ market. Under the canopies, stalls are overflowing with Corsican specialities; cheeses, charcuterie (cooked pork meats), honey, sun-drenched fruit… The atmosphere is friendly, lively and delightfully authentic. You stroll through the stalls, taste a few products and leave with plenty to bring this local experience direct to your plate!

You reach the marina and stroll along the quays. The kids are starting to get hungry. Perfect! It’s the ideal spot for lunch on the terrace and to sample local cuisine… You can now tell people you’re familiar with Prisuttu, a dry cured ham and jewel of Corisican charcuterie, and you love dentex fish grilled over embers. Even if you also have to try this exquisite fried fish, filleted or cooked in the oven!

Head for Tamaricciu beach, the white sands, turquoise waters and umbrella pines. Walking along the bay by the water, you’ll cross a charming creek, with impressive giant rocks immersed in crystal-clear waters…picture-postcard scenery!
Next on the programme, a swimming stop on one of southern Corsica’s fabulous beaches and a siesta on the warm sand in the shade of juniper trees…

You’ve perked up and are back on the streets of Porto-Vecchio. Time to buy some souvenirs; jewellery, pottery and various handcrafted pieces await you in the old town’s quaint shops.

You sit down on the terrace to dine as a family, facing the setting sun. The sky is adorned with pink and orange hues. It is magnificent.
This evening, there is seafood platter and Fiadone au Citron (flour-free lemon cheesecake) for dessert. You’ve heard so much about this local pastry, made from Brocciu, a creamy Corsican cheese…

You head back to Domaine de Bagheera. The children are asleep in the car. You put them to bed, contemplate the starry sky for a few minutes, and then also dive into bed, for a long peaceful night’s sleep.
