Le Domaine de Bagheera, a committed eco-leader in Corsica

Respect for the environment,
a core value of naturism
Domaine de Bagheera, Lagoon

Since being established, our campsite has been actively committed to an eco-responsible approach to sustainable development, striving to ensure tourism and respect for the environment coexist in harmony. We should mention the direct link between protecting the environment and naturism, which share common values such as respect for the countryside, simplicity and seeking a way of life in harmony with the environment.

Our sustainable development policy is reflected through various tangible initiatives concerning biodiversity protection, promoting the local economy, awareness-raising among visitors and adopting eco-friendly habits on a daily basis.

Flora on Bagheera

Our 100-hectare grounds are home to exceptional flora, unique to Corsica. Among the plants found here, there is a vast forest home to eucalypti, holm oaks, cork oaks, mastic trees, strawberry trees, as well as various flowering plants, bushes and thorny species. This lush vegetation not only contributes to the beauty of the countryside, but also plays an essential role in the ecological balance of the setting.

With nearly 3,000 plant species, Corsica is genuine heaven for botanists and nature lovers alike. At Le Domaine de Bagheera, this floral abundance remains unspoilt, owing to eco-friendly environmental management, with limited human interference, enabling nature to thrive. Guests are invited to discover this exceptional biodiversity, while adopting eco-friendly habits.

Fauna on Bagheera

The fauna on Le Domaine de Bagheera is equally exceptional. At the heart of the campsite, among wild scrubland and a eucalyptus forest, peacocks live alongside holidaymakers, with the ability to roam freely throughout the entire grounds. Their presence adds an exotic, fascinating air to the guest experience. They can admire their impressive plumage, with a slim chance of seeing them fan their tails!

Around the U Stagnolu lake, fauna lovers discover native species typical of Corsica. Moreover, this wetland is a French League for the Protection of Birds (LPO) area, with the aim of protecting birds and the ecosystems on which they depend. This designation demonstrates the site’s ecological significance, and Bagheera’s commitment to protecting and preserving local biodiversity.

Promoting the local economy

On Le Domaine de Bagheera, we’re committed to supporting the local economy, by Integrating locally grown produce into our offering. Corsican essential oils are used in the wellness complex, offering guests a genuine sensory experience. The campsite mini-market offers regional produce and products, such as cooked and cured pork meats and cheeses, allowing holidaymakers to discover local flavours. This approach which favours short supply chains and supports local producers, further strengthens the region’s economy.

By opting for Corsican natural resources, we offer you the chance for authentic immersion in our island’s culture, while reducing your transport-related carbon footprint. This eco-friendly approach helps promote more sustainable, environmentally responsible tourism.

Daily eco-responsible habits

On Domaine de Bagheera, every habit is vital for protecting the environment. We encourage you to adopt eco-responsible behaviour during your stay. We have installed dedicated facilities to support this approach, such as recycling collection points and energy-saving facilities, providing educational materials promoting local biodiversity. By adopting these simple habits, you are actively contributing to protecting the environment and preserving our campsite’s natural beauty.

01
I make eco-responsible purchases
  • I buy in bulk
  • I choose local seasonal produce
  • I go to the market or buy directly from the producer
  • I make my own cosmetic, cleaning and washing detergent products and more besides
  • I eliminate plastics and harmful chemicals
  • I have a flask, pocket ashtray, zero-waste picnic kit
02
I make energy savings
  • I limit my use of the air conditioning, heating and electricity in general
  • In summer, I close the shutters and curtains to keep the heat out
  • in winter, I open the windows to let the sun’s heat in
  • I turn off the lights and unplug all my electrical appliances
03
I reduce waste pollution using the 5 Rs
  • Refuse anything I don’t need (plastic straws, plastic sacks, leaflets etc.)
  • Reduce packaging and other pollution sources
  • Reuse anything that might have a new lease of life, repairing wherever possible and favour exchanging, swapping and sharing over buying
  • Recycling whatever I couldn’t refuse, reduce, reuse (glass, paper, cardboard, plastics, fabrics, electric batteries…)
  • Returning organic waste back to the earth (food, coffee grounds and tea bags, paper towels, tissues, kitchen paper cut up into little pieces…)
04
I pay attention to little daily habits and favour the circular economy
  • I exchange or borrow instead of buying
  • I don’t throw away anything which could still be useful: I give away, I exchange or I resell
  • I do not print unnecessarily and keep my paper for drafts
  • I only take what I can actually eat
  • I control my water consumption
05
I go off the beaten track and I come to Corsica in the off-season
  • I choose less-visited places
  • I venture into the small villages inland
  • I share a moment with the local inhabitants (in the local cafe, with traditional craftspeople, producers…)
  • I come in autumn or winter
06
I book accommodation, restaurants and leisure activities that are committed to eco-friendly practices
  • I favour establishments with environmentally accredited designations or those which have signed an eco-responsibility charter
  • I opt for activities linked to local culture and countryside protection
  • I encourage these establishments by also playing my part in the eco-responsible approach
07
I adopt eco-responsible behaviour during my countryside walks
  • I stick to waymarked trails
  • I respect the signs and restrictions in place
  • I pick up my own litter and any left by others (including cigarette butts!)
  • I leave gates and fences as I find them
  • I am discreet and ensure I am not too noisy
08
I practise slow tourism (less far, for longer) to make the most of it
  • I extend the length of my stay with my host (2 nights minimum)
  • I choose sustainable ways to get around (eco-driving, car sharing, public transport, cycling, walking and hiking…)
  • I support local tourism
  • I allow for the unexpected
  • I make time to meet and connect with local people
09
I protect lakes, rivers and marine life
  • I choose eco-friendly and biodegradable sunscreen
  • I am careful where I walk
  • I pick up my own litter and any left by others (including cigarette butts!)
  • I leave shells and any other natural elements on the beach
10
I restrict my digital pollution
  • I post my photos and videos online responsibly
  • I store my files locally rather than in the cloud
  • I free up storage space by deleting what I don’t need

Awareness-raising and citizen commitment

Conscious we can only protect the environment through education and awareness raising, we have implemented initiatives aiming to encourage eco-friendly behaviour among our holidaymakers. We distribute information on habits to adopt to minimise your environmental impact, such as reducing water and energy consumption, waste sorting, and even respecting local flora and fauna.

Our campsite also takes part in local initiatives favouring ecology, citizenship and community engagement. By working with local associations and players, Le Domaine de Bagheera contributes to promoting sustainable tourism and awareness-raising among the general public on environmental issues. This involvement-focused approach strengthens links between the campsite and local community, while offering guests a rewarding and educational experience.
