of Aléria

The day always starts with the same ritual; black coffee and skinny dipping in the Mediterranean Sea!
The kids wake up gently. You make them summer fruit salad, slices of bread with jam and traditional hot chocolate.

it’s Thursday morning…perfect! Just five minutes from the campsite, the large farmers’ market In Bravone is in full swing! From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m, from 15 June to 15 September, this unmissable weekly market thrusts you into a convivial authentic atmosphere.
Corsican cheeses, sun-drenched fruits, traditional charcuterie (cooked pork meets), honey and jams…hard to resist these tempting local specialities!

Having dropped your shopping back at the campsite, you head for Aléria, less than 15 minutes’ drive from the campsite. You’re off for a trip back in time, in the former capital of Corsica during Antiquity.
You enter the Fort de Matra fortress perched on the heights of Aléria and immediately go back through several centuries of history! The visit starts with the archaeological museum, where you’ll have time to see genuine artefacts, tools, weapons, and pottery, dating back to Antiquity.

You now head to the archaeological site. The trail leading to the site offers a breathtaking view over Aléria and the Tavignano river.
The children discover the traditions and daily life for the various Mediterranean peoples through the remains of the archaeological site; a Roman villa, pre-Roman necropolis, forum, temple, mosaics…

Lunch is oysters from the Étang de Diane lagoon, here with mozzarella au gratin for you. The kids have moules marinières with chips! On the shady terrace opposite the turquoise-blue sea – naturally.
The kids stamp their feet impatiently at the idea of swimming on the Padulone beach. This large stretch of sand is perfect for a lazy interlude, and building sandcastles with the family…

Fortunately, you’ve thought to bring a parasol and sunscreen, the sun is beating down. After a siesta in the shade and countless swims in the sea, you head back on the road towards the campsite.
The kids have arranged to meet their friends on the playground for a giant game of hide-and-seek on the campsite.

dinner ready
The kids take a shower. Meanwhile, you prepare impromptu drinks and appetizers with Corsica specialities you found at the campsite mini-market: Lonzo and Coppa, types of cured pork, and Prisuttu, superb cured ham (delicious Corsican charcuterie) sheep and goat’s cheeses, tomato salad and Corsican wine.
For dessert, you have a choice; lemon, almond or chocolate chip crunchy canistrelli biscuits!
