The sun has already been up for a bit, but here there is no rain… Just the sound of the waves in the distance, the mild air across the pines, the aroma of freshly made coffee…this morning, you take your time.
Today, you’re headed for the Étang de Diana (also known as the Étang de Diane), one of the loveliest lagoons on the eastern coast of Corsica. A place both wild and teeming with life, where nature meets traditions. Barely around ten minutes’ drive from the campsite, a peaceful day is already taking shape!

You get there and discover a vast expanse of water, with changing reflections, reeds and fishermen’s huts running alongside. In the background, the Corsican mountains complete this breathtaking setting.
Here, everything seems slower… You walk unhurriedly along the lagoon, seeing the birds flying over it, fishermen raising their nets… The atmosphere is authentic, almost timeless.

As you approach the wooden pontoons, you quickly realise the Étang de Diana is a major shellfish farming centre in Corsica. Oysters and mussels have been farmed here since Antiquity!
You take time to chat with a local producer, passionate about his craft. He explains the distinctive features of this unique ecosystem, a combination of fresh and salty water, which gives the shellfish their distinctive taste.

You can’t leave here without enjoying the local specialities…you sit down on the wooden terrace by the lagoon. Before you, a dish of fresh oysters, a few mussels, and a perfectly grilled fish fillet… The setting is simple and refined, the perfect moment. The children try it, a little shy at first, then they’re convinced! The flavours are bold, briny, perfectly in tune with the setting.

After this gourmet lunch, you need a short stroll. You take a trail which runs along the lagoon, before easing its way into a pine forest. The tree shade is immensely welcome.
The path is easy, perfect for all the family. At times the lagoon reappears between the branches, glistening in the afternoon sunshine. You take some photos, you stop, you breathe…

Back by the water, you sit for a few moments on the pontoon. The silence only disturbed by the water lapping and birdsong.
The kids throw a few pebbles, you simply enjoy the moment. What holidays are all about…slowing down, noticing things, savouring every moment.

Time to head back to Domaine de Bagheera campsite. The journey is short, enjoyable, bathed in light as the day comes to an end.
To extend this feeing of letting go, why not end the day with a moment of wellness. A sauna session, relaxing massage or a few moments’ peace perfect this interlude, the final relaxing finishing touch before nightfall…
